OLA Restobar – On the Quarantine Patio

Restaurants have redesigned their patio since that is now their main attraction during quarantine. Some have gone all out, to where the vibe is more energetic than ever and one might wish they would keep it like that even after customers are allowed to dine indoors again. Downtown Covina, has been one of those cities that have turned their quaint downtown into a lively and yet still cozy street of patio dining that has taken up in the street parking spaces, giving it a farmers market feel.

OLA, downtown Covina

This place is also equipped with TVs and speakers to display games & music to give it that sports bar & party vibe feel. Since itโ€™s mixed with the outdoors of the quaint downtown style, it balances out to be a lively ambience without being too directed to one specific type of crowd. Iโ€™ve been here on date night and with the family.

They have an array of cervezas and cocktails, especially micheladas. Flights of tequila and micheladas are available if you are feeling adventurous or canโ€™t make up your mind ๐Ÿป The menu is quite extensive with options including seafood, tacos, burgers, and Mexican style platters.

Camarones Aguachile (shrimp cured in Serrano & lime juice)

Shrimp Aguachile was a good choice although there is a lot more cucumber than shrimp, I wouldnโ€™t mind paying more some extra friends. We also had the Tostadas de Ceviche that were packed with lemon-cured fish, tomatoes, onions, cilantro, topped with Tapatio & Avocado. My dad gave a bite to my baby without realizing it had some trace of tapatio, and my son started grabbing his mouth and breathing out with some cries for a few seconds ๐Ÿ˜ฅ Some bread and water helped ๐Ÿ˜“

Tostadas de Ceviche

I thought I was just going to be about the seafood but I actually enjoyed their Bourbon Burger and their Carne Asada Fries topped w/ a fried egg. The Stacked Taquitos were also good for sharing, but Iโ€™m going to focus more on the burgers next time

Burritos and Burgers are on my list for my next visits, and of course micheladas ๐Ÿ˜‹ Here are some pages of the menu…

Happy National Oyster Day!

So I went to a new spot in Downtown Covina called Oasis Fisheria for some oysters, buuuut they are telling me they are out and oysters hard to come by right now. I’m holding back the tears ๐Ÿ™ For now we are settling for micheladas, seafood tostadas, and fish tacos. Not bad for our seafood dinner. Let’s see how it goes…

Some flirting going on the the waitress…

Beautiful weather and atmosphere in Downtown Covina

I have to say all the food tasted very fresh and with a good amount of spice to our Aguachile and Spicy Shrimp Campechana ๐ŸŒถ ๐Ÿฆ Those two dishes were my favorite! The ladies that work here are incredibly nice and give excellent service. The atmosphere was actually pleasant since all the restaurants have set up in the the parking spaces in the the downtown street. It felt like the farmers market with everyone chilling outside, at a social distance of course.

Be-Back Bar to RePUBlic

Be-back bar was a nice dive bar with a friendly atmosphere by the downtown area of Covina. The young owners have now transformed the place to a shiny, modern, and youthful scene filled with a shiny bar of twenty beer taps facing you as you walk in (their original ones still behind the bar).

This place also has a billiard table and multiple dart boards to get competitive with ๐Ÿ™‚

One of the owners has his own michelada recipe called JR’s Michelada. It’s my favorite drink to get there. Highly recommend it!
